Music has always been a vibrant part of worship on the
mountain.  Many folks in Wilkes and surrounding counties still
speak of the second Saturday night singings, began by Brother
Vestal Moore, pastor of Cherry Grove for thirty-seven years.
Memories were made as people drove up the five miles of dirt
road to Cherry Grove, where the choir would sing with great
power and the groups following (quartets, soloists, trios, other
church choirs) would raise the roof with their Spirit-filled singing
and worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Though the Saturday night
singings have passed away, the Spirit of the singing and love for
Christ-honoring music still rings through the mountain.
